Complaints Policy

If something's gone wrong, tell me

I'd rather hear about a problem than have you leave unhappy. Complaints are how I find out what isn't working, and raising one will never affect the care you receive.

How to complain

Email hello@doctorparke.com, or write to Doctor Parke Ltd, 3 Wellington Park, Belfast, County Antrim, BT9 6DJ.

What happens next

Within 3 working days I'll acknowledge your complaint in writing.

Within 20 working days I'll give you a full written response: what I found, whether I think something went wrong, and what I'm doing about it.

If it's going to take longer than that - because I need information from a third party, for example - I'll tell you why and give you a new date.

Complaining on behalf of someone else

If you're complaining for someone else, I'll need their written consent before I can discuss their care with you. Patient confidentiality applies to complaints too.

If you're not satisfied with my response

Tell me, and I'll look at it again.

If you remain unhappy after that:

Concerns about clinical care or my conduct as a doctor can be raised with the General Medical Council, which regulates doctors in the UK - gmc-uk.org, 0161 923 6602.

Concerns about how your medication was dispensed or delivered should go to the dispensing pharmacy in the first instance, and can be raised with the General Pharmaceutical Council - pharmacyregulation.org.

Concerns about how your personal data has been handled can be raised with the Information Commissioner's Office - ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.

For a consumer dispute about fees or refunds that we can't resolve between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme. If we reach that point I'll tell you which certified scheme is available and whether I'm willing to use it.

Nothing here affects your right to take legal action.

Time limits

Please raise a complaint within 12 months of the event, or within 12 months of becoming aware of it. I'll still consider later complaints where there's good reason.

How I use complaints

Complaints are recorded separately from your medical record and reviewed as part of my annual appraisal and GMC revalidation. They're used to improve the service, and they're kept confidential.
